چکیده

volving the jugular foramen is rare. It shows usually hypovascular lytic bony destruction of the jugular foramen (1). Hypervascular metastases such as those from renal and thyroid carcinoma may produce destructive vascular lesions similar to paragangliomas (2). The authors report a case of hypervascular metastasis from thyroid carcinoma in the jugular foramen simulating glomus jugulare tumor.

Treatment of progressive metastatic glomus jugulare tumor (paraganglioma) with gemcitabine.

Paragangliomas are rare tumors of the paraganglia composed of specialized neural crest cells arising in association with sympathetic ganglia. Here we report a case of progressive, metastatic paraganglioma (glomus jugulare tumor) responsive to single agent gemcitabine. Glomus jugulare tumors: historical overview of the management of this disease.

Glomus Jugulare Presenting with Isolated Facial Nerve Palsy

Glomus jugulare is a rare slow growing tumor occurring within the jugular foramen that rarely presents with isolated symptoms. Although histologically benign, these tumors are locally destructive because of their proximity to the petrous bone, the lower cranial nerves, and the major vascular structures (Miller et al. (2009) and Silverstone (1973)). We wish to report a glomus jugulare tumor erod...

Selective arteriography of glomus tympanicum and jugulare tumors: techniques, normal and pathologic arterial anatomy.

Glomus tympanicum and jugulare tumors arise within the middle ear and jugular fossa, respectively, but often extend into the adjacent areas of the skull base and posterior fossa. Multiple branches of the external carotid, internal carotid, and vertebral arteries may contribute to the vascular supply of these lesions. The arteriograms of 15 patients with glomus tumors were correlated with the su...
